Ok, so some of my friends & family will understand the humor in this (because we've done it before). We were bored tonight and for some reason I thought of doing this little activity. I highly recommend it if you ever need a laugh. Mike had never done it before. I do have to apologize ahead of time for my ridiculous laughing and shaking during the video. Randomness

Okay Jess, this is for you. You wanted to see pictures of my belly (or lack thereof), so here ya go.
I am 17 1/2 weeks and still not showing AT ALL. It's really not too bad, except for when I think that people assume I must be lying when I tell them I'm that far along. Some day I will have some physical evidence of the baby inside me.A little closer up... (and relaxing my belly a bit more)
I have also discovered the most delicious sandwich. I've made it at least 3 times since Tuesday. I make it like a grilled cheese sandwich, but I put pesto on the inside of the bread, with 2 kinds of cheese and grilled ham (have to grill it first cuz of baby). I'm in love with it! Here is a picture, just for fun. You should try it.














I also started my new job today, working with elementary kids who are mentally or developmentally challenged. It went very well. There are only 6 kids in the class, and 6 adults to work with them, so we can give the kids one-on-one attention. We went swimming today, and I really enjoyed getting to know them, the teacher, and the other paras. I was pretty exhausted when I got home, but I think I will really enjoy the job. I'm excited!

preganancy is so strange

So one of the crazy aspects of pregnancy is how difficult it is to sleep now. First of all, it takes me at least a half hour to fall asleep at night, which is annoying in and of itself. The past few nights have been the worst. If, scratch that, when I wake up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I can't get back to sleep because walking there and back has woken me up too much. It's ridiculous! Last night I felt extremely ancy at 3:00 in the morning and could hardly bear laying there in bed; and I was starving, so I got up and ate a bowl of cereal. You never know when you're going to be able to go a few hours feeling fine or if you'll be starving to death at unexpected moments. I guess it's good because it means that our baby girl is growing. When I actually do fall asleep, I can NEVER get comfortable (some of why I can't fall asleep to begin with). And another thing, I know that I'm not supposed to sleep on my back, but I always wake up that way because it's the only position that's comfortable. I've tried sleeping with a pillow behind me so I won't roll over, but I eventually just move it because I can't stand that position any longer. Maybe I'm just crazy...

So, sorry about all the whining, but I figure that those of you out there with this kind of experience may be able to offer some helpful advice. Hopefully this will get better soon.

It's a girl!

We had our ultrasound yesterday and found out that our baby girl is healthy and developing right where she should be. We are so thrilled! I can hardly wait until February 3rd (due date). Here are some pictures of our sonogram.

1 Year Anniversary

Today is our big one year anniversary! Hooray!! We actually celebrated on Friday by going to dinner and to a Jack Johnson concert in Kansas City (about 3 hours away). It was a lot of fun. It was my first real concert (kind of lame, I know). It was outside, and we're not in Utah, so pretty much everyone was drinking and smoking (cigarettes, cigars, and who knows what else), so our baby got his or her first smoke. I could hardly breathe; the smell was so strong and horrible. Also, Jack attracts a lot of the hippie type (yay...more drugs). He also didn't get onstage until 2 1/2 hours after the concert started, so I was pretty tired by then. Well, on with the good stuff.

Jack Johnson is amazing live. He sounded spectacular, and puts on a great show. The amphitheater was sold out. I don't think I've seen so many people packed into a space. Jack did forget his own words a couple times, but I loved it, and so did Mike. The whole crowd got into it, singing along and dancing. I love his music, and it was great to hear some of his new stuff. This was an awesome way to celebrate our anniversary! Thanks Mike.

Also, I was going to post pictures, but when I got the camera this morning to download them, the batteries were missing. Mike took them to put in his light for his bike so he could be seen on his way to work (so that's a good reason). I will post pics either tonight or tomorrow. We've been invited over to some friends house for dinner and games or a movie tonight, so that's how we'll be spending our true anniversary night. I was going to have to spend it at a work meeting, but I quit, so away with that idea. Yes...I quit my job at the scrapbook store. I still have to finish out my 2 weeks, but the 2 or 3 days won't kill me (I obviously don't get many hours there). I have applied and interviewed for a couple new jobs and will hear back this week. The one I really want is as a paraeducator, or para for short. I will work in local schools with special education students. I think I would love it, so I'll post when I find out. Wow, this post is long. Sorry about that, but...Happy One Year to Us!!!

HOT HOT HOT!!!

Today was a scorching, disgusting 108 degrees! It's pretty much ridiculous, and impossible to stay outside for more than 5 minutes (about the time it took to walk home from work). Blah. I thought Utah weather was bad, but here, we apparently only have 2 real seasons...Summer and Winter. Spring and Fall both go by like the blink of an eye. I'm rather disappointed about that. I guess we have to deal with only the extremes...so sad.
